Secret Pal 5 Questionaire

1. Are you a yarn snob (do you prefer higher quality and/or natural fibers)? Do you avoid Red Heart and Lion Brand? Or is it all the same to you?
Definite yarn snob - okay, some blending is fine - like nylon in sock yarn. Natural anything, wool, hemp, linen, cotton, soy, whatever.

2. Do you spin? Crochet? Nah, tried both, just didn't "click".

3. Do you have any allergies? (smoke, pets, fibers, perfume, etc.) No, thank goodness.

4. How long have you been knitting? Yikes! 30+ years

5. Do you have an Amazon or other online wish list? no

6. What's your favorite scent? (for candles, bath products etc.) Not a candle, frou-frou person.

7. Do you have a sweet tooth? Of course!

8. What other crafts or Do-It-Yourself things do you like to do? You mean there's something besides knitting?

9. What kind of music do you like? Can your computer/stereo play MP3s? (if your buddy wants to make you a CD) Classic rock, New Age

10. What's your favorite color? Or--do you have a color family/season/palette you prefer? Any colors you just can't stand? All earth tones! Light aqua ocean blue - Actually, I LOVE all colors - lots of colors.

11. What is your family situation? Do you have any pets? One very old cat (see picture below), a husband, and two sons off in college. I work full time as a project manager, teach knitting on the side, test-knit for designers, knit while I walk for exercise...

12. What are your life dreams? (really stretching it here, I know) To sail off into the horizon towards tropical seas on a 45' sailboat with my dear husband...which we'll do real soon.

13. What is/are your favorite yarn/s to knit with? Fingering weight wools, wool blend sock yarns, Gansey yarns, sport weight wools, mercerized cottons.

14. What fibers do you absolutely *not* like? Acrylics, novelty yarns.

15. What is/are your current knitting obsession/s? SOCKS, Fair Isle designs, ganseys, historic knitting & knitwear, old & new techniques.

16. What is/are your favorite item/s to knit? Socks, baby sweaters, complex projects

17. What are you knitting right now? This is embarrassing...way too many projects going on at once: Fair Isle jacket for me, socks for husband, baby socks for friends, baby sweater for friend, lace cotton tank top for me, another fair isle sweater for me, designing a toddler sweater...

18. What do you think about ponchos? Blech - never wore them in the 60/70's either.

19. Do you prefer straight or circular needles? Knit in the round whenever possible! But doublepoints are my passion.

20. Bamboo, aluminum, plastic? Wood - bamboo, birch, rosewood for the most part, but aluminum dpns for tiny work (size 0, 00) are best as they slide easier. I adore knitting-related trinkets, special stitch markers, bags, unique one-of-a-kind handmade do-dads.

21. Are you a sock knitter? Well of course! I teach sock knitting as well.

22. How did you learn to knit? I taught myself when I was 19 - lived in Hawaii and wanted something to do while I sat on the beach.

23. How old is your oldest UFO? 7 years - but I really do take it out once in a while and work on it.

24. What is your favorite animated character or a favorite animal/bird? Sheep

25. What is your favorite holiday? Summer Solstice - the one day that has the most daylight each year.

26. Is there anything that you collect? Nope, just wrinkles.

27. What knitting magazine subscriptions do you have? Have them all

28. Any books out there you are dying to get your hands on? Nope, no room on a sailboat for books - I'll have to have it all in my head or use the internet to search out answers.

World Wide KNIT IN PUBLIC day June 11th!

Well, it's all over the internet - Saturday June 11th is Worldwide KNIT IN PUBLIC day (KIP). I'll be teaching beginnning knitting at the local community college that day and had already planned to knit on the patio of the little coffee shop for lunch after class.

Heck, knit in public at every opportunity! I meet so many people that way.
